I am currently planning a tiered High School Musical cake to be completed in two weeks.  While shopping at a Target store, I found a "Troy Dashboard Ornament" for $7.99 in the Christmas decoration isle.  The little girl I'm making the cake for loves Troy!!!  Usually I try to make my own decorations but the cool thing about this is you turn it on and it plays a song from the High School Musical Soundtrack, "Every Day?"  The back of the ornament is blank, so I plan on using colored decorator icing to write I heart Troy or something on the back.  I plan to make a two stacked cake frosted in butter cream with this used as a cake topper.  I'll decorate the rest of the cake with stars cut from rolled tinted fondant with edible glitter or pearl dust brushed on to make them sparkley and black musical notes piped on with frosting.  I will probably use a star tip to border the cakes in blue.  I'll try to post a photo when I've made it.  Hope this helps you.  The best thing about this idea is that it is a musical cake!!!  What could be more appropriate for the theme?
