Has anyone heard of dixies icing?

I was on a website with a promotional video about an icing product that is called Dixie's Icing. It looks and sounds great, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they have ever seen it or heard of it.

    Thanks! Idea

    Hi Carol,

I frist got a sample of Dixies Icing at an ICES convention and have been hooked ever since.
I have been using Dixies Icing on all my cakes for over 10 years.   It is the best!  It is light, no greasy residue on the roof of you mouth, it's not overly sweet and no grittieness.  It spreads on smooooooth! Brides love the look because you can get it so smooth it looks like fondant but it is butter cream.  You can add colors and they don't bleed.  I actually use grosgrain ribbon alot on my cakes as a bottom border and I haven't ever had a problem with the ribbon getting grease spots on it.

Dixies Icing does not form a crust, which I like because if your cake board flexes the icing flexes and doesn't crack.  I ice my cakes and decorate with the same consistancy.  I even make butter cream roses.  After I have made the roses I refrigerate them so they are nice and firm when I put them on the cake.  I put all my cakes in the cooler and have not has a sweating problem when I take them out and I live in Florida.

I am sure you'll love this icing.  Dixie ships quickly and if you have any questions she always is so helpful.

Yes, I have heard of it!  I use it frequently and LOVE it!  I have used it for about 3 years and now instead of buying the smaller containers at my local store, I am buying the 2 gallon pails from Dixie directly.  Everyone that I decorate a cake for just loves the frosting as well.  I would highly recommend it to anyone that is decorating cakes or even just frosting a cake for the family at home.  It's easy, convenient, easy to work with and tastes great!  Can't go wrong with this one!

yes, i have heard of it and eaten it. the bakery near my house that i order my cakes from uses dixie's icing. haven't seen the promotional video. my wife use to prefer whipped (not gritty as she says) and i use to prefer buttercream (it has taste). but, now we prefer dixie's as it not gritty nor tasteless. it's smooth and delicious.

OK I have never heard of this icing but went on the website and it looks wonderful! I have been making my own italian meringue buttercream and just using it to crumb coat cakes cause it taste wonderful but holds up in heat and under fondant but it isn't the smoothiest icing to use by itself! I am going to buy the sample package of dixies icings it has all the flavors and different types in it! I want to see if it taste good and goes on really smooth! I used to use wiltons can white icing which is super smooth but the taste people complain about it tasting like can icing lol too sweet! I will let you know when I recieve it if I really like it! I like the fact in comes in alot of colors too! Esp. red, black, and burgundy the most difficult colors to achieve in icing without changing the taste and or using tons of icing color lol!

    Thanks alot!

Btw I just love this website!

    Carol,

I was just on another site that had a thread about Dixie’s Cookie decorating icing.  They said it could be piped like Buttercream, or warmed and used as a glaze!  I said that sounds like you would just end up with warm soggy ButtercreamStick out tongue, but was told that does work.  I will have to try that for myself.  I am going to see if I can find some to try, and I’ll keep you posted.

Re: Has anyone heard of dixies icing?

I couldn’t find anyplace that sells it around me, so I ordered some on eBay yesterday. It was $16.85 with shipping included for a 10 ½ cup sampler.  After I ordered it, I went to www.dixiesicing.com and found out I could have saved $1.85 if I bought it direct.  The only reason I didn’t go to Dixie’s site in the first place was I figured they would require a huge minimum order and a tax number, or business license number (which I don’t have because I just work from my house). Turns out you don’t need either one, and there is no minimum order to buy direct.  I can't wait to try it after reading what you all say about it here and on other cake decorating sites.
